Ambassadors must move
Sept. 28, 2017
We are ambassadors for Christ. What a wonderful calling: to be a representative of the King of kings and Lord of lords! Our mission can be described in one word: OUTREACH.
How do we accomplish our ministry? Three Steps.
1) Knees. All true ministry starts at the same place: in prayer. Martha was busy, but Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet. The leaders of the Church at Antioch in the book of Acts prayed and fasted and the Holy Spirit gave them direction in ministry. Elijah the prophet hid himself in prayer and then showed himself to the King in power and authority. John the Baptist spent much time in fasting and prayer and people came from everywhere to hear him preach in the wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and went forth in the power of the Holy Spirit. Prayer makes us ready for our ministry of outreach. Why are more people not saved? Because we aren’t taking the time to intercede for them, to weep over them, to pray and stand in the gap for them.
2) Hands. “I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” What are holy hands? Hands made holy and clean by the blood of Jesus. Why do we lift them up? In praise to God. We pray and seek God. Then we lift our hands in praise and worship to Him. Many wonderful things happen when we praise God. Jesus said, “If I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men unto me.” In praise, we are lifting Jesus up. If we go to share this Good News, which is our job as an ambassador, but God doesn’t go with us, there is no power. When we praise God, He goes before us. Praise lifts up Jesus and people are drawn to Him. We sow praise and worship to God in the Heavens and he gives us a harvest on earth: people being saved.
3) Feet. Put on your feet Gospel shoes. Jesus said, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Peter the apostle told us to sanctify the Lord God in our hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every person that asks us for a reason of the hope that is in us. Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then he said, “Here am I; send me.” Walking and talking - that’s what an ambassador does. He represents his home country to the nation he is in.
We are here to represent Jesus to this world we live in. Our mission is to win as many as we can to Jesus before it is too late. Knees - Hands - Feet. It takes all three to get the job done. Knees - prayer births the harvest. Hands - praise releases the harvest from the spiritual world into the natural world. Feet - sharing the Good News - gathers the harvest into the kingdom of God.
