Renovated Mike & Ed’s re-opens

A November fire at Mike and Ed’s on Crawford Road closed the restaurant for five months as owner Chase Cook rebuilt the beloved barbecue joint. On April 14, Cook and his family cut the ribbon, re-opening the restaurant to the public. 

Ed Cook and Mike Gullatt opened the restaurant in 1985. Chase finally got to be part of the business when he was in seventh grade working over the Christmas break. 

“I helped cook hams and turkeys and I was hooked from then on,” he said in a previous interview. “I’ve known all my life I would do this.” 

 Chase took over his father’s business in July 2015. 

The restaurant’s interior still features antique wall art that patrons are used to seeing and everything seems a little brighter - just like the future for the Cooks and Mike and Ed’s.
